I'm Juvy Lalaine,
nice to meet you.

I'm a Design Engineer who specializes in User Research and Interaction Design. The human mind is a fascinating thing for me. When facilitating workshops, I am fascinated by how people think and come up with solutions to a problem or challenge posed on them. I feel most accomplished when I am able to influence people to see beyond the superficial.

When not working, I explore places, try new things, read books, spend quality time with loved ones and strive to VIBE HIGH.

How I got started in UX Design

Working on an IT Solutions Company provided me with a lot of learning opportunities and projects in software engineering. I started as a JAVA Developer, moved to Mobile Development (specifically iOS Development), Front-End Development then finally to UX Design. I got interested in UX Design when I found that I need to step up on an Agile project that has no dedicated UX Designer. I was the front-end developer and (in a way) designer at that time. Being an explorer that I am, I asked myself why donʼt I explore on UX Design this time?

I equipped myself with the knowledge and skills needed by: self-studying, attending a UX Bootcamp, asking for shadowing opportunities, finding mentors and learning by doing.

What I've been working on

I am currently working on Process Control Automation and so I am reading (and watching) a lot of materials related to this field. I am also continuously learning and sharpening my skills in User Research and Interaction Design by regularly attending conferences, meetups and courses in Interaction Design Foundation.

I used to have speech deficiency and so I am not akin to speaking a lot. I prefer writing over speaking. Iʼd rather observe, do development and analysis work than actively participate and facilitate. But I want to improve my work and so Iʼm continuously working on getting out of my comfort zone, overcoming my fears and weaknesses.

What I'm curious about

I am an avid learner and explorer, and so there are a lot of things I am curious about. To name a few, I wonder how learning neuroscience, psychology and behavioral design would help me do better and well-informed designs.

Iʼm curious about finding the niche in all the various fields I've studied (Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Aviation, UX Design, etc.) to serve better, improve lives and create unique human experiences.

How about you? What are you curious about?

Found something empowering in here? Or maybe something cringy that opposes to your point of view? Remember, your satisfaction depends on you, don't give that power to anyone else. Keep that healthy habits up! Keep vibin' high! 😉 I'd like to hear from you too!
